Roles and Responsibilites and Individual Due Dates

Director:

You will be in charge of setting the stage, advising actors and coordinating filming.
  • Think about how the scene should look on "stage" (movements, entrances, exits, etc.)
  • You will lead the rehearsals and filming and be held accountable for the movement that occurs on "stage". You will need to utilize the stage directions on the script as well as the set design to organize the performance. For instance, if there is a fight scene, you must choreograph the fight so that it suits your group’s adaptation.
Promptbook Responsibilities:
  • Cast list (Due by end of class Monday, May 18th)
  • Table of Contents (Due by end of class Monday, May 18th)
  • Set Design(s) (Due by end of class Tuesday, May 19th)
  • Tech List (Due by end of class Wednesday, May 20th)
***You should complete these tasks before the other group members complete theirs and then aid the Historian or the Writer.

Artistic Director:

You will be in charge of all things artistic pertaining to the production of your scene. You should make sure your production concept is obvious to the eye. Additionally,  you will be in charge of the editing of your film.
  • Think about what costumes and props each character needs. You are also responsible for how props and scenery from the original will be incorporated into the scene.
Promptbook Responsibilities:
  • Cover (Theme Visual) on Canva (Due by end of class Monday, May 18th)
  • Props list and props coordination (Due by end of class Tuesday, May 19th)
  • Costume Design and coordination (Due by end of class Wednesday, May 20th)
  • If doing a film, it must be exported (can take hours) and submitted on Tuesday, May 26th
***You should complete these tasks before the other group members complete theirs and then aid the Historian or the Writer, unless editing the film.

The Historian (2 per group):

You will be in charge of making sure your scene is historically/factually accurate to your production concept while also staying true to the original themes, characters and plot.
  • You should be especially familiar with the history of the chosen setting including common slang and vocabulary. During the rewriting of your scene, it will be your duty to check for accuracy of speech, costumes, etc.
Promptbook Responsibilities:
  • Production Research (Due by end of class Tuesday, May 19th)
  • Introductory Page (Due by the end of class Thursday May 21st)

The Writer (4   per group):

You will be in charge of rewriting the new script according to the original Shakespearean scene.
  • You are responsible that the scene lives up to the expectations of the original.
  • You will rewrite the original adapting this scene to a new setting.
  • You should also be on the lookout to make sure that your team’s rewrite is not just a simple line by line ‘translation’ of the old text but rather an adaptation of the story. To do this, you should identify some of the themes and motifs in your sections and think about how they might translate into the time period you are working within.
Promptbook Responsibilities:
  • Script with production notes/“blocking” 
    • Teacher will check to see additional progress is made each day​
    • MOST of the script should be completed by the end of class Wednesday, May 20th
    • The entire script should be completed by the end of class Thursday May 21st

*** ALL MEMBERS NEED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PERFORMANCE. This may include acting, narrating or managing technology.
